ATS’ is an acting approach to your Repertoire (Song File). You will analyse the lyrics to find more depth to the song. Students will need to think of their songs as monologues not always needing the ‘crutch’ of music. Essentially an acting through song class with a heavy focus on lyric and text.
In singing technique classes, you will learn about the way the human voice operates, explore different sounds, vocal registers, styles and practice exercises rooted from the Bel Canto school of singing into Onstage Voice’s‘Open Voice’ model. You will learn about the role of the tongue, jaw, soft palate, lips and other components in the process of singing, and work to improve posture, breath control, vowels, onsets and offsets, resonance and more.
This class is fundamental to landing a job in theatre. Once you have your repertoire file in place you will need to hone your script reading skills to land a job. Our team will give you techniques and methods necessary to breakdown and analyse a way into the heart of the script. You will learn spoken word punctuation, antithesis, contrast, actioning techniques, irony plus working on recall stage script material from shows/plays with self-tape feedback.
Here at Onstage Voice, we are passionate about new writing. You will get to work on BRAND NEW scripts, written for you and your classmates, tailored towards the online world. You will also film these scenes as further practice for self-tapes, and you will find out what it's like to work on new writing in a fun, interactive and encouraging environment
This class is at the bedrock of study for a Musical Theatre student. You will work on performance, audition technique and castibility; knowing your niche and understanding your strengths is fundamental to progressing as an actor. Finding the right song is a minefield that our team will navigate, arriving at the perfect song for you; directed, analysed, and polished leaving you with a song that reveals the very best of you as a performer.
